Artist Statement: Thomas A. Newnam
I’ve been painting exclusively in watercolors for almost 40 years. Having grown up with one foot in the Delaware and Chesapeake Bay regions and the other in the rural colonial landscapes of southeastern and south central Pennsylvania, these influences feature prominently in my work.
To share how I’ve always allowed Spirit to guide me toward the happiness and wholeness that comes from following your most authentic path, I’ve written two inspirational self-help memoirs. My most recent book “TRY SOFTER” (with a Foreword by Michael Bernard Beckwith) is currently available on Amazon. Additionally, in an effort to help artists unblock their creative flow, I’ve posted more than 20 instructional watercolor videos on my YouTube channel.
At this stage of my combined counseling and painting career, I’m happy to accept select commissions. Whether it be a family home, a historic building, a favorite pet or garden scene, or any particular place or thing that warms your heart, I always try “softly” to allow Spirit to guide me into capturing the very heart of the subject matter.
As a family therapist and life coach, I also allot some time each week to offer phone counseling and soul alignment sessions.
