For a long time, I have been sharing a vision I had many years ago. What was said to me was, “We are going into a period of great chaos. Many people will leave the planet. People are being prepared to be lights in the midst of the chaos.”
I knew, way back in 1975, that getting ready for the chaos was the path I had to take. I had no idea what that meant or when “the chaos” would arrive.
So I learned to stay in the moment and wait for the inner urge to do whatever I was called upon to do. This meant learning to listen on a deep inner level and to trust whatever guidance I was receiving.
In August 1976, I gave away everything I owned and went on a lengthy journey that I described in my book The Search for Connection: A Spiritual Journey to Physical, Emotional, and Financial Health.
In the process, I learned to let go of fear and to understand that there are forces at work that are beyond my comprehension.
Over the years, I could see the division in our country taking shape. I learned how to watch the news with a level of detachment, knowing that when the chaos came I would need to be able to watch the drama and not get emotionally involved with it.
It’s been a long time coming, but we are stepping into the core of the chaos. I believe that it’s going to get a lot worse before it gets better. It’s hard to maintain order when people feel powerless and suppressed.
We also have to do deal with the rapidly spreading coronavirus, climate change, economic inequality, racial injustice, and other planetary problems. The United States appears to be the epicenter of disruption.
There is no good or bad – only what is
It seems remarkable to me that people living in the same country can perceive what’s going on from such different perspectives. Because I have tried to watch the drama with detachment, it’s amazing that there is such a diversity of opinions about our shared experiences.
I try not to judge. Instead, I ask what kind of hurt people must have experienced early in their lives in order to want to rebel and express such anger. Is it really possible to love thy neighbor when one feels treated unfairly by those who are in positions of authority?
What we are living through is chaotic, destructive, confusing, and sometimes frightening. We are going through a period of cataclysmic change that requires that we examine what has happened from as detached a point of view as possible.
There is no easy fix for what has happened in our divided society. The chaos is not going to miraculously disappear as we join together and walk into a kumbaya moment of togetherness.
We are going to be dealing with chaos and confusion for what will seem like a long time. It is difficult for our leaders to understand the hunger, economic uncertainty, fear, and anger that ordinary people are experiencing.
This cataclysmic moment requires that we understand the hurt and pain that people are expressing in many different ways.
We are living in a time of great unknown. Our brains are wired to fear the unknown. The solution, for me, is to stay focused in the moment and have hope for the future.
I would love to know how you are dealing with the chaos. Or are you just ignoring it? Email me at [email protected] and share your thoughts.
