A lot is in a name. Names are capsules of energy. Companies and parents do not make a name for no reason, even if it just sounds good, there’s a subconscious psychology in selecting the title for what an entity is called. A name is a reflection of the intention in the context of the times. Every name has a meaning, a story.
The Gregorian New year is said to fall at the end of the 12th month December, and begin in the first month, January.
The numbers are off, and the names are proof. The prefix “dec” means 10. “nov” means 9. “oct” means 8. “sept” means 7.
If we were to rearrange the months to fit the proper order implied in the numerical prefix, the calendar would begin in March, and end in February, January being the 11th year, not the 1st.
This makes far more sense, because February has the least number of days, and has an extra day once every four years, the leap year. Why do we have a leap year? Because it takes the Earth 365.24 days to revolve around the sun, so the extra day is to synchronize the calendar. The calendar is based off of the sun’s rotation, but is off a little bit. The planets more in an indiscernibly irregular way, they wobble and spin among each other, with slight glitches.
Time does not exist, only names and structures for the time. Our day is 24 hours because it takes the Earth that long to spin on its axis. Our year is 365 days because that’s how long it takes for the Earth to revolve. Time is merely a collective numerical agreement based on planetary position, how day and night shifts across the stars. Time is a dance of light and shadow, the planets are the dancers. The time you feel may not be the time that everyone says it is. If you know what time it is, you know what I’m talking about.
February is the true last month, often the coldest out of the year. February is also the month of Valentine’s Day.
“February is pitiless, and it is boring. That parade of red numerals on its page adds up to zero: birthdays of politicians, a holiday reserved for rodents, what kind of celebrations are those? The only bubble in the flat champagne of February is Valentine’s Day. It was no accident that our ancestors pinned Valentine’s Day on February’s shirt: he or she lucky enough to have a lover in frigid, antsy February has cause for celebration, indeed.”
– Tom Robbins
The fact that February is Black History Month is a slap in the face to world history, the global anthology that links all humankind. Black people have been all over the world, had been in the Americas long before 1776. Native Americans, Moors, Asiatics, Aborigines, whatever you want to call them to feel most politically correct, they were all melanated. Mankind’s origins are Black, period. All history is Black history. The further back in any cultures history you go, the blacker it gets. America and its educational curriculum dedicates a whole entire month, the shortest and true last month reserved to retell the narratives of overcoming slavery. Indeed, it is absolutely crucial to have a place in American history for the history of Black revolutionaries, but the notion of “Black History Month” implies that all slavery is the origin of Blackness.
The zodiacal year begins in March, with the sun moving into Aries on the equinox on March 20th. The Sun moves into Taurus in April. April is a reference to Aphrodite, also known as the goddess Venus. Venus is the ruling planet of Taurus. The Sun moves into Taurus in April.
June is named after Juno.
July is named after Julius Caesar, whom I believe was doing his own trickery and wizardry. Julius Caesar’s birthday is recorded as July 100 BC. As an author and general, Julius likely renamed the 7th month after himself.
The month that follows Julius Cesar’s birth month is August, an adjective for notability. I think dream hampton knew this etymology when she named her film “Black August”. dream hampton is a virgo. The sun moves into the sign of Virgo in August. Virgo is mutable earth sign, the mother of the sun’s resurrection. Virgo is the only sign in the zodiac that is represented by a woman.
September to December are all named after number prefixes, the other months are evidence of war, pagan ritual and Roman trickery. This is why so many people drink and engage in debauchery in the name of the year’s end. It’s a fake calendar year. You just want an excuse to let go of things you should not have held onto this long anyway. I remember one winter I was back in Atlanta, a taxi driver told me that New Years Eve is always the most dangerous night to be working or out and about, whether it’s violent incidents or car accidents. This is why many cab companies do the free ride home service that night. Everyone gets beautiful to get drunk, desperate to forget the year, to lose sense of time, to forget what they did with the time, and forget what the time did to you. We can live everyday anew.
The astrological new year, also the first day of Aries, falls on the solar eclipse on March 21. Springtime is the true new year. New Years represent rebirth. It happens in March, not during the dead of winter. Align yourself with the true nature of seasons!
Above all else,
Move on your own time.
